Scottish Independence, What Could Have Gone Wrong With Voting Yes?


Yes or No? That was the question asked to Scots or Scottish people during the Scottish independence referendum. It’s more than just a question in fact, because on Thursday the 18th of September, the people of Scotland voted on whether or not to secede from the United Kingdom, and form their own independent nation for the first time in over 300 years.

Of course, from the news that is trending now we are aware that the independence movement didn’t achieve its ultimate goal. From the Scotland vote results, Scotland voted to remain a part of the United Kingdom with a 55% majority vote of NO.

Scotland independence debate is a hot topic right now; in fact it’s one of the most intensely covered trending topics within the media of not only the United Kingdom, but within most of the English speaking world.

What would an independent Scotland have meant for the Scottish people? If the majority had voted Yes, what changes would the United Kingdom have faced, and how far would the impact of this Scottish independence vote be felt by neighbors in Europe and around the world?
